We have an AIP - Should we be worried?

Hi Everyone,

My partner and I went to see a mortgage broker/advisor today and went through the process. We were offered an agreement in principle with Halifax. Happy to have the AIP, however worried about a payday loan taken out in December last year. Paid off in full and on time (early, I think!).

Should we expect to be declined due to this? Getting worried!

Thanks for taking the time to read :) .

Liam

Was the Payday loan disclosed to your broker before application? If so, then your broker should know which lenders to avoid and which take a more lenient stance, particularly for short term loans taken out over the last 12 months.

The Halifax AIP is based on a soft credit search for the last 3 year's address history, so should have picked up the loan presumably.
