firstplus and payment proctection insurance
has anyone had any experience of dealing with firstplus and there payment protection insurance. after reading martin lewis`s article i was chearged £5,000 for a ppi which was added to the loan. i am in the process of remortgaging my house and paying off this loan. even though the loan was for £28,000 i owe £32,000 due to the ppi. has anyone tried to reclaim this premum back off firstplus?

We are in the process of remortgaging and can get the amount to remortgage for the loan without the PPI. We rang FirstPlus but they wouldn't budge said it was our fault for agreeing to the PPI. I wrote a letter to the Complaints Department and explained that we can pay off what we borrowed but they have added an extra £14,000 to the total which means we cannot remortgage and they are putting us in financial difficulty. We get the PPI amount back in 5 years anyway so I don't see the problem. We had a reply to our letter which said they are looking into it and will get back to us by 26th September. Will let you know what happens. It is just a nightmare.

Yet another satisfied First Plus customer! They are truly awful and if you search the Forum you will find that you are not alone. We had much the same problem, and as EJ says, it was mostly our fault, but instead of looking at a mutually acceptable solution (and I mean us paying the loan back, but over a longer term), they stood their ground, and totally f'ed us.
Perhaps if FP gave lots of help, they would receive lots......;)0
