Leeds Building Society

Hello

I'm wondering if anyone can help please? My partner and I submitted a mortgage application through a financial advisor to Leeds at the beginning of June for a new property which we are buying together. Just to confuse matters we are not selling our current property beforehand but we are remortgaging to release our equity to use as a deposit for the new place.

We have never received anything to say that our application has been formally agreed but were told that the Leeds offer would be subject to them seeing a copy of our remortgage offer and this was provided to them yesterday.

Sorry if I'm sounding a bit dumb but now that this has been provided should Leeds now issue their formal offer. They have carried out a valuation of our new property - am I right in thinking that they wouldn't have done this if our application hadn't been agreed? Also they've not collected their arrangement fee from the debit card no I provided at the time of application and there's no sign of them having carried out any credit checks on my Experience report.

Many thanks

I recently got my offer from Leeds, my broker got an email a week after the application saying it had been approved, valuation was 3 days after that and full offer sent the day after valuation, so you must be getting your offer if they have your valuation! Fingers crossed

Thank you when did they collect the arrangement fee please? At the time of your application being submitted and approved or when they issued the offer?

It was when I submitted the application I phoned them and paid the arrangement fee and CHAPs fee, I paid on my credit card and they took it there and then! Maybe give them a quick call? I found they were really helpful on the phone.

Just spoken to our mortgage advisor and he's not sure either?! Thinks that they could be adding it to the loan amount but he can't tell from the application he submitted for us. Is going to call them for an update tomorrow and let me know.

    Hi,

Leeds took our fee straight away.

The credit search wont show on your experian as Leeds use Equifax only.

The fee will be debited automatically if the broker keys it that way during submission and enters the card details.

You have to tick the £199 booking fee and £30 TT fee and both are collected online.

If he didn't opt for the £30 as well, it won't work and someone needs to call and provide the card details over the phone.

Regular Leeds users get familiar with stuff like this. You only make this mistake once.

Thank you - no payments have been taken from my card at all.

If the application has been submitted by a broker, am I ok to ring Leeds myself to check or does the broker need to do it? Don't want to interfere and cause any problems but at same time don't want there to be any unnecessary delays.

After the application I received a letter from Leeds saying they are working on my application and if i wanted an update I could speak to my broker or call them directly. I bet the brokers would prefer you to go through them tho...

You can phone and pay the fees yourself.

All I can say, with my experience of Leeds Building Society, is to leave them right now and find a reputable building society.

After 3 months of messing about, I didn't even get to the valuation stage. Needless to say, I lost the house.
