Tesco scrapping Fuel Save. Ends 31st August

Supermarket giant Tesco is axing its popular Fuel Save scheme which can slash up to 20p off a litre of petrol.

It has hit the skids just 16 months after being launched as an “industry first” to ramp up the pump price war .

News that the scheme - open to the chain’s 16.5 million Clubcard holders - is to be scrapped, follows reports that petrol prices have hit a six month high at 117.11p a litre for unleaded.

Just used my clubcard/tesco credit card to get diesel that I had 14p per litre due to me. When checking the recept found I had not been given the discount but they had taken the 14p allowance off the July figure and just quoted the August new allowance. I had to go into the cash office to get this shorted out and they did give me £5.65 for the 40 litre of fuel but how many people check receipts especially as the terminal on the pump had acknowledged my points and asked if I was paying with the card so I could have assumed all was well. Just check receipts for this scheme, many may have forfeited their money.
