Can't open PDF files

I am unable to open PDF files stored on my computer, I have been using Foxit Reader without any problems, but now all I get is a "new tab" blank page and no info.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled Foxit Reader but still it won’t open my PDF files, indeed it is now opening multiple “New Tab” pages and will not stop, I have had to remove it again to stop these pages being loaded.

If I left click a PDF file on my computer nothing happens, if I right click the PDF it continually opens Mozila new tab pages and won’ stop until I restart the computer.

Previously I left clicked the PDF, a new tab page open and a window asking if I wanted to use Foxit Reader, I clicked yes and the PDF opened, but not now, any ideas what is causing it and how to rectify?

I have uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox, Version 39.0

I have again uninstalled and reinstalled Foxit Reader 7, but despite it showing as installed it will not open any PDF files

Any recommendations for reading PDF files/

    [FONT=&quot]Are you sure?

After clicking set up I seem to have to agree to install Arcade Twist, Rapid Media Convertor, Optimize Pro and Genius Box.

I can probably remove those after but they then want personal information including total annual income which I am not prepared to give.

I have never had to give this out before for a free download

It is "short survey" under FileOpenerPro.

I clicked "decline" and it did proceed.

Also AVG stopped some of the components loading as threats, but nothing is showing as installed and I still cannot open PDF files

    Recommendation from gunte.

I actually thought I had Adobe on the computer, I must have uninstalled it during the last couple of days when doing same to other programmes.

Tried Adobe, it said it had placed set up on computer but I cannot find it to install!

    That was using Version 11.0.08.

Tried with Version 10.1.4 and it placed the set up onto the computer but it will not open to install it!

I have got Foxit reader to work but even though it is opening the PDF files it keeps bringing up a pop up saying it has crashed.

    dooood .

Your machine is now full of malware.
If your struggling to run a downloaded program from firefox then just use internet explorer to download and run it from the link I provided

Or, when it has downloaded in firefox, click the little blue arrow at the top right of the screen, then click on the name of the downloaded program, and run it.

While your at it, download and run malwarebytes from here https://www.malwarebytes.org/mwb-download/

Its this piece of garbage that is most likely causing your file download problems

Nothing wrong with the Foxit 6 download from File Hippo. I downloaded and installed no problem.

Do you use an adbocker to stop you seeing unwanted adverts? You should as an ad probably tricked you to download that rubbish.

    Run malwarebytes as advised.

It's not to do with 'file association' is it??

Control Panel / default programs / set association / scroll down to .pdf and make sure Foxit is set as the default

    ??????????
