Wow!!.....I know at the moment the Living Wage is only paid in certain places/companies etc.,
Its great if this 100% going to be paid to everyone 25 and over who have up to now received the NMW!0 -
Its clever to call it the living wage, the NMW has negative connotations.Don't trust a forum for advice. Get proper paid advice. Any advice given should always be checked0

I don't think many people could say the chancellor hasn't delivered what he said he would, Higher pay, lower taxes, lower welfare system...
No doubt Labour supporters will still find wrong but most people are going to be happy with this budget.Don't trust a forum for advice. Get proper paid advice. Any advice given should always be checked0 -
One thing to note that it'll rise to £9.00 by 2020.. just in time for the next election
what a "coincidence".... "No one can change the past. The only thing we can do is strive to make up for our mistakes. Why must we make up for our mistakes, you ask? Because in so doing...we can find the way back to our path. And once we've found our path we can move on from our past mistakes toward a brighter future"

No.
They are talking about the national minimum wage, but have misappropriated the term "living wage", probably in an attempt to cause confusion.
The living wage is currently £7.85/hour (outside London). What they are talking about is the minimum wage.0 -
So the new national living wage will replace the minimum wage then.No.

It's not really a living wage though, that's where the problem is - it's basically a mutton dressed as lamb situation & anyone with a functioning brain cell can see that. It's wrong & moronic to call it a living wage when the widely accepted definition of a living wage outside London is £7.85 an hour.
Doesn't change the major problem with any "minimum" level of wage which is that rather than it being a minimum it's treated as a maximum.Retired member - fed up with the general tone of the place.0 -
Not so good news if you're under 25. Doesn't the rate change at 21 now.
So it seems some people have just had the goal posts moved in front of their noses.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
What it may grow to in time, I know not what.
