Wednesday 8th July - What small DFW things will you do today?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free!
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending!
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important! :money:

Morning All
Ziggy - Glad your son had a great day and is being sensible with his birthday money. He's got a great head on his shoulders for savings from what you've said.
Morning Enjoyyourshoes
Wednesday already. The week feels like it no sooner starts than races towards the middle, end etc...
I have to confess to feeling quite frustrated at the moment. I have that feeling again of wanting to make big steps in my DF journey and the plodding nature I have to keep is getting to me. I know I am among friends here and it's ok to admit this hence the off load.
Much of this is linked to the business progress since reopening. Although there is much to be pleased about. Regulars returning. Great party bookings. Some good weeks on the final figures earned. It is still not making enough to pay me anything some months. Which puts continued pressure on our personal budget as we need me to be making something at the very least. So I feel a bit stuck and a bit cross some of the time.
Anyway I keep telling myself that this time of the year has never been strong from a trading POV and I just have to get through it in as positive a way as I can. Keep accounts up to date. Every payment I make to my overdue PAYE is one I will never make again. That is costing me £305 a month till January. I also have a rent break for November and December because I pay my rent over 10 months at the shop. And once all these darned music vampire charges are paid (paying one company £40 a month for 3 months and 1 £88 a month over 6 months:eek: just for my crackling radio to be on each day. There are so many things that I have to do before I see a penny a month.
right on that note time to get cracking.
Sorry for the ramble!

Morning guys thanks for starting us off ziggy and glad lo had a lovely day!
Bob there is a point in the dfw right in the middle where everything feels monotonous and drags but when you get near the end it suddenly speeds up!
Today I am going to be productive and not waste my life on the internet!
Plans for the day:
*[STRIKE] usual crazy hour house work[/STRIKE] 15 mins left which will be enough to vacuum & polish upstairs
* all meals from stores - making tray baked chicken & veg and will use a tin of new potatoes (oh went shopping and got these instead of new potatoes. He said they didn't have new potatoes only had jersey"!)
* while the oven is on finally bake this banana bread and some cookies
* go through bag of clothes dgd has grown out of and sort out some bundles to post on facebay
* check onepoll
* water plants
* make dgd's bag & packed lunch for tomorrow (leaving for the funeral at 5am)
* [STRIKE]get mince out of freezer to make spag/chilli base[/STRIKE]
* [STRIKE]read martin's email[/STRIKE]
* read book
* went through cc statement to work out spends so far this month (and therefore what is left of personal budget - nothing - and GC budget £75 to last until the 22nd - which is loads so will come under budget)
* spends for dgd's birthday as well as the 3 t-shirts, 1 dress, 1 skirt and 1 sweat shirt purchased yesterday in the CS are covered by CB :T
Ok think that'll do. Have a lovely day xDF as at 30/12/16

Morning all, hope everyone is having a good day, thanks for the start Ziggy.
The rain here is very miserable. It's July!!!
DNMS, I agree what you said to Bob about their being a monotonous period of battling debt. I think initially it's exciting to challenge yourself with ways to save money, but over a prolonged period I bet it can lose the fun (even though I paid off my debt in a short time, I definitely had a lull after a couple of months, especially as some of it was interest free).
I'm glad we can all come here to offload though. And remind each other of our successes (looks at Bob's impressive signature, including that emergency fund, roadkill and wombling totals pointedly)!
Anyway, I have nothing fun to report. Have to submit an invoice to claim back for damage to my car (:mad: that I had to fork out in the first place though). Will be asking when that will be reimbursed. No shame in my debt free game!
Not going to be a NSD as I have to get petrol and some ingredients to make food for a buffet at work tomorrow. So Lidl later.
And good luck twiggy! Let us know how you do0 -
Hi All
Thanks Hannah, Determined & Ratison. I gave myself a sharp smack over the knuckles and paid off another £33.28 instead of whining.
I love how supportive you all are. Thank you.
