Ending a contract whilst in contract?

Hiya,

I'm trying to save myself a bit of money and the only bill that I have control over seems to be my orange contract phone. If I am not in a postition to afford it anymore what are my options?

Thanks...

    Hi pnq06,

Unless Orange are in breach of contract, it is not possible to end your contract early.

If you are a certain length of time into your contract (sorry, can't remember how long it is), then you will be able to reduce your tariff plan x

the only way to end a contract early is to request them to cancel it and a final bill. The only down side of that it will consist of the rest of the contract rental due. (e.g. you have 3 months on contract and have to give 1 months notice, you have to pay 4 months rental)
Unless you can get someone to buy the contract off you which is complicated and phone stores don't like to do it.

    Thanks for that...

Still got 6 months left unfortunately so I'm guessing that I would have to pay £300 (6x£50) I might try and reduce my package :D

    Thanks for the help earlier...

I phoned them this afternoon pleading poverty and they weren't having any of it. They said that the most they could do was drop it to £40 so I asked them what their proceedure was if someone can't/doesn't pay and they talked me through to which I said lets start it now then :p I think they took me seriously then because I ended up coming away with a £21 pm bill instead of £50 :j
