CC available balance

I am looking to port my mortgage and apply for a topup which passes the affordability tests if my credit card is no more than x amount as 3% of the balance is taken into account as a monthly commitment. This is no problem and today paid off the sum required in the hope this will be updated on my credit file in the next couple of months. (Note I was saving this small sum whilst CC on 0%).
My question is would it also be worth me asking the CC company to reduce my credit limit (currently way in excess of what I would ever wish to spend) to show the underwriters I wouldn't be racking up further debt to lower the risk as looking to borrow right up to the top amount allowed per calculator?
I am unsure what the underwriters look at in detail at final stage. To confirm so far all I have done is spoken with mortgage provider who ran through the calculator, I won't be proceeding for a couple of months presuming an offer is accepted on a property we are interested in and a buyer is confirmed for ours.
