Payplan

Hi there,I would definately recommend Payplan to you, they have got us sorted where others just said 'go bankrupt',that was bad advice in itself as we have more assets than debts,Payplan were much more understanding and in my opinion,a little more knowledgeable than CCCS and National Debtline.
The other thing I would say is,when we phoned National Debtline, they actually recommended Payplan to us as they were overwhelmed with the amount of calls at the time and they said that our details could have been passed on to Payplan anyway,as that's what they do when they have too much work.
Best of luck with your decision,it's very difficult to know the right thing to do,but once you take the next step, things start to become much clearer.

That's really interesting, thanks living in hope.
Does anyone else have any experiences of one organisation being better than others?0 -
I think it would be foolhardy for anyone to say one is better than another.
Debt is so personal and so many combinations you need more than one solution - so you can't say one company is better than another.
For example if it comes down the line of CCJ then Payplan and CCCS will say see your local CAB, National debthelpline have fantastic legal information that people can utilise independantly.0 -
Hi, I agree with everything everyone else as already posted. I know its scary actually to commit to the DMP but the sooner you start the sooner it will be over. I contacted the CCCS but would have no problem using payplan.
I took the CCCS advice but decided to continue my own DMP and declined the official offer. If you like what Payplan have told you then just go for it.
There have been many people trying to make sure they get they sign up for the best possible advice but over the years I have seen so many positives for both the CCCS and Payplan I would say they are pretty much "even stevens... You are not going to get a straight answer on thid but trsut me when I say that actually tackling your debt and changing your habits will lead to a more relaxed life

rayday, you're spot on about not thinking one is better than the other, but each individual is different and in our case,Payplan were the best

I'm afraid I have to disagree about the CAB,they hadn't a clue about debt,DH went there first and they just didn't know what to do,their advice was 'go to the bank and talk to them' that should have been the last bit of advice. Our CAB admitted that they can't help anyone with debts OVER £5k!!!!! they even said that IVAs can only be arranged on debts under £5k,Very bad advice and totally untrue. My advice with the CAB would be,don't go there unless they have a specialist in debt, which obviously ours doesn't

I think a lot of the time it comes down to individual advisors as well as the organisations. The CAB runs mostly on volunteers so they aren't as likely to have the specialised legal knowledge.0

I think that the point has already been made about the staff, at CAB, being volunteers. I also think that, given their wide ranging portfolio, it is not surprising that not all CAB advisors will be well trained on all aspects of debt. However, debt problems increasingly account for more of the total number of cases that they deal with, and they do have specialist debt advisors, although not in every branch.
In my opinion, I feel that anyone going to CAB for advice on debt should be seen by a qualified debt advisor. If none is available, then a further appointment should be made with the appropriate person.
I have to admit that, on my first visit to CAB, I felt that the advisor seemed more pre-occupied with finding me alternative housing, rather than advising me on my impending bankruptcy. However, he did tell me that bankruptcy was not his field, and put me in touch with one of his colleagues, from whom I got some really helpfull advice.I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.

The CAB couldn't see me for 6 weeks which is why I made an appointment somewhere else. That's really handy to know about the volunteers, although I guess they get training. I didn't know that.0
