Mortgage Application

Hi, just a quick query before I start attempting any applications. My husband and I own a property outright which we are renovating to move into, the property is in joint names on the deeds. I'd like to take out a small mortgage to finish the renovations in my sole name (as the husbands credit rating is shot due to past issues).
Can I apply for the mortage solely, given the Deeds state both of us as owners? I'm anticipating £20k - property is currently probably worth £180k - if that makes any difference)?
Many thanks for any advice!

You'll both need to be party to the mortgage as you are named on the deeds.0
