sorry if this is a stupid question...are you 'allowed' a catalogue[choice, etc] if you're bankrupt?

You cannot get credit for over £500 and you would have to tell them you are BR, then it would be up to them if they take you on I think. Someone with more knowledge will probably answer later.Went BR 25th May 2007 at 12.33, OR Interview now done. BSC No 880

The following is an offence for an undischarged bankrupt:
From: http://www.insolvency.gov.uk/guidanceleaflets/guidetobankruptcy/guidetobankruptcy.htm
Which would suggest that obtaining credit via a catalogue for less than £500 would be OK without informing them of your bankruptcy status.obtaining credit of £500 or more either alone or jointly with any another person without disclosing your bankruptcy. (Note: this is not just borrowing money - it includes your getting credit as a result of a statement or conduct which is designed to get credit, even though you have not made a specific agreement for it. For example, ordering goods without asking for credit and then failing to pay for them when they are delivered);Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

I had a NEXT Directory account when I went BR, the balance was zero so they weren't a creditor, but they closed my account anyway. I did speak to them to see if I could continue to use the account, but they declined saying I could only order items if I paid 'up front' for them.
You may therefore have difficulty getting credit with a catalogue, but be able to order goods providing you pay at the time of ordering.0
