Renting a new flat whilst bankrupt

Hi,
I currently rent privately, however need to move due to work commitments. My bankruptcy started after I moved into my current flat, however it I will be discharged next month.
Can anyone give me any advice please going as forward I need to secure a new rental within the next few months and I am concerned that my circumstances will adversely affect my chances.
I work full-time, have proof of income and will have excellent landlord references.
I will start to contact rental agencies and landlords directly via Gumtree and be upfront about matters, but it would be really helpful to hear from anyone else with any suggestions etc.
Thanks a lot

I suggest 'waiting' until after your Automatic Discharge date. At that point, you are no longer Bankrupt.
Many agencies are used to applicants having a BR on their records...some take the view that someone who has recently had a bankruptcy, is a good bet for paying, since they 'have no debt'.
With agencies, a credit reference check is usually conducted [by the likes of Homelet, for example].....so when taking your details, in my experience the first thing one is asked is, will there be any adverse marks on the credit record?
CCJs, Defaults etc, which have not been 'addressed' are looked upon less favourably than a BR...which has addressed the former.
Don't be shy about the BR, be proud.....it shows you have done something to address a debt issue. No, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......0 -
