companys that help with debt and interest

???a friend told me that there is a company that can be contacted to get rid of interest on credit cards and help you with debt problems ,they contact the companys for you????? is this true does it exist????apparently its a free charity

There is a CHARITY which offers advice, councelling and can help with contacting creditors.

The are called the 'Consumer Credit Councelling Service or CCCS.

Be very careful of COMPANIES offering the same service. They will often try to take a security on your house, charge very high up front fees and you could end up paying much more in the long term. These COMPANIES tend to advertise on daytime and satellite/cable TV.
