Tax relief on carparking at work

I have just applied for the clothing allowance, and read somewhere that car parking is also allowed to be claimed on your tax allowance. I pay for my own parking each month, does anyone know if this is possible, as it would be a great help.

There's no allowance or deduction for car parking I'm afraid. An employer is allowed to pay for it or provide it as a non-taxable benefit (if they want to) but if you personally have to pay for it, there's no tax deduction.Indecision is the key to flexibility

AIUI is was (and still is) a taxable benefit if they give you money to cover paying for parking in someone else's car park. Providing spaces in their own car park wasn't a taxable benefit0 -
I understood not, but I do keep revisiting this topic - given I can't get my head around that it is deductible where it is provided by an employer / paid for via a salary sacrifice mechanism.
The best I've found to almost explaining it is the below link - but even then, I'm also left unclear whether NICs are not applicable on the amount payable on car parking.....!
