Sainsburys nectar coupon site

Apologies if someone has already posted about this. If anyone has a nectar card and wants to earn more points, I recently found out that Sainsburys has a coupon site. I may be slow on the uptake here, but if there's anyone else like me who didn't know I just wanted to share it in case it's helpful to others.

You can choose up to 5 coupons which can be used in store or online. I find there are often things included which I buy anyway. Of course if something is being sold more cheaply elsewhere getting the points is never going to outweigh saving money, but it can be useful.

Here's the link if it's helpful to anyone https://mycoupons.sainsburys.co.uk/

I found out about this site last year and have used it a few times since then. As you say, if you are buying the stuff anyway it makes sense to use it. I rarely do a big shop there these days (mostly go to Aldi) but last week I wanted to stock up on the items I can only get there and accumulated over 1,000 points. 800 for an over £40 spend and a few on mushrooms, tomatoes and coffee, which were all on offer. I know 1,000 points isn't a lot to get excited about, especially since they devalued them, but every little helps! (edit to add - should have said I also used a coupon for £6 off a £40 spend as that was my reason for spending so much!)

I went yesterday for a big shop as I had a coupon for five X points if spent £50 and about for coupons for 90 points, 70 points, 50 points etc. By the time it all went through the till I ended up with 1000 points and have loads of shopping and stuff in the freezer.

Unless I have a load of coupons and triple points or over I don't do a big shop and just pop in to look for YS things to freeze and maybe milk or bread.

Household has gone from six of us - to five - then four or three and lately just me and DH. I am on my own now buts youngest is back from uni and her sisters and our SIL pop in as much as they can so I am never quite sure how many I am feeding.

  • Hi there. May I ask how the 5 coupon limit works? Initially, I thought it was 5 coupons and that's your lot forevermore but others on this thread have said they have used the site a number of times.

Is it a case of having to use all 5 of your coupons before you can go back to get new ones?

Thank you in advance to anyone who provides an answer. :)
  • If you use all 5 of your chosen Nectar "coupons" they will e-mail you and tell you when they have been paid into your account - usually within 4 or 5 days. Then you can remove them from your list. Don't remove until you get the e-mail. If you don't use any you can just remove them too. Then start again with another 5. (Hope you follow me!)

    Points HAVENT been devalued.

The issue rate has halved for normal purchases in Sinsburys , but the redemption rate hasnt changed - so 1000 points are worth the same £5 as they where before the change

It's not a case of being limited to 5 coupons for ever, but being limited to a maximum of 5 coupons at any one time in what Sainsbury's call your 'Wallet' ie your online MyCoupons Account.

No, you don't have to use all 5 coupons before going back and adding more. If any coupon(s) expire (and are removed automatically) or if you change your mind about using a coupon and remove it yourself you can either leave a free space or replace it with another coupon. The ones that must stay in your wallet are the ones that have 'pending validation' underneath them as these are for products that have been recently bought but the bonus points haven't been added to your nectar account yet. Remove these coupons too soon and you don't receive the bonus points.

Another couple of ways to obtain extra points at sainsburys:

    1) If you haven't already done so, register your nectar card on the nectar website http://www.nectar.com/NectarHome.nectar and then log in and go to the 'bonus offers' section and see if any offers in the Sainsbury's section are of interest/use to you (they are renewed at the beginning of every month).

    2) If you have any addition cards linked to the same nectar account you can register these with MyCoupons and another maximum of 5 coupons at a time can be added to that 'Wallet' Just remember that if you load a coupon to Card A you must use that one to obtain the bonus points. If you use Card B you will only get the standard points for that product, even if you buy the right item, the coupon is valid and both cards are linked to the same nectar account.

I only realised this the other day after my mum took me to get some shopping and I had a 400 bonus nectar points coupon added on to my card. She used her card which is linked to my account, but the points weren't added - I hadn't realised it had to be your own card until it was too late!
  • This site has been great for me - I have had conditional spend vouchers - £6.00 off for £40 spend, the site has enabled me to have extra 1200 points for spending over £40.00. I've done this at least three times, so looks like a lot of Christmas shopping will be free!
