What part of the country are you in?

Have you signed up to the reed 7 day availability thing? my last experience was potential of factory work temp for potentially 1 day up to 3 months - received an email asking me to call an agencies industrial desk (negative part below on being a Temp I'm afraid) some agencies might loan you the safety boots

Have you tried the automotive industry - working in sales? seen lots of job crop up round here for that so hoping it may extend country wide

Have you seen the concerned reference?? as I don't think this is asked for much (except obviously certain regulated industries) either that or I've worked for strange employers

Can I also urge caution on taking lots of temp jobs - this can also end up making you 'vulnerable' (the easier one to let go because of the past you've been a temp blah blah.. and that's the something of a downside of a reference not being taken unfortunately!) if you obtain permanent employment where you only have hours to prove yourself, so only do it if the CV really allows it

    Bizarrely I echo don't give up :)

I'm in the West Midlands near Walsall. I didn't know about the 7 day work thing, I'll take a look at that.

Yes I've seen the reference. It mentions the dates I was employed but also says I was sacked due to a disciplinary offence (it doesn't go into detail though).

I'd rather not a temp job, but right now I'm getting desperate and will do any work. As with the automative industry idea, I've applied for a few previously and didn't get a reply.

It's tough and depressing for me right now.

I was sacked on a disciplinary as well and OCS took me on without even an interview.

As it is for a lot of people out of work, you are far from alone so take comfort, there is always someone worser off then us.

Somebody else said it first page in of that other thread you referenced to - have you considered self employment? it may be the way to go as it isn't nice out there whether you've done right or wrong.

I've also had a landlord accept rent up to 5 days late without issue due to good previous conduct, before I bow out for now.

Didn't the dole office tell you about housing benefit? You should've been getting that straight away. Also council tax benefit if you pay it.

Hey, maybe try approaching some smaller businesses like window cleaners or others face to face? Try a whole bunch and just see if any of them have work for you and would employ you. You need to get across that you are really passionate, driven and determined to excel in any job.

It's probably no comfort, but if I ran a business and you walked in the door with a good attitude and explained your situation, I'd probably give you a chance.
