M&M's comp win

Just been notified that I have won a trip to the US with their M&M's comp. T&Cs state it is for 2 adults & 2 children only, no other combination will be accepted. Doesn't mention family holiday or suchlike on the advertising, but with no kids am I likely to be excluded from the win? Will be contacting the organisers but thought I'd see if anybody has previous knowledge of this type of comp

from what I have read of their terms and conditions and other winners M&M's are being rather strict with their terms and are only allowing 2 adults and 2 children, they won't allow just 2 adults as my friend asked and they also said no to her adding extra children on and paying the costs.

Do you have any nieces or nephews you could take with you?

  • More than 2 unfortunately! Will need to speak to the organisers as this is surely detrimental to those with 1 or no kids.

From what I have seen they have been pretty strict and it does clearly state in the terms and conditions that the holiday is for 2 adults and 2 children. I once had to miss out on a holiday because it was for a family and I also have no children was hoping to still go with my partner...

One of the reasons why I have no interest in this M&M one.

It's their choice if they want to set it as 2 + 2 or almost any combination they like as long as it is in the T&C's or clear from the wording - there are other competitions where no kids can go so it is perfectly reasonable to not allow just adults to take up a family holiday and waste the children's places.

    T&C's seem clear
Each prize trip is for two (2) adults and two (2) children only. No other combination of guests within the travelling party is available. Unless otherwise agreed in writing with the Promoter, a winner is not permitted to transfer the right to take up a prize to anyone else.

Hi NAME, prize winners will be able to travel with just two adults and if an extra adult is requested to come along they will be required to pay the difference. Thanks, M&M's UK.
Best wins: Brit Awards & After Show Party Tickets 2012; Samsung Galaxy Note; 32" widescreen TV; £500 National Garden Vouchers; Kindle Fire HD; £100 high-street gift card; Kindle; Diamond Necklace; BAFTA TV Awards Tickets 2015;
  • Thanks, just checked their fb page and it does day several times you can go with just 2 adults, or 2 adults 1 child, so not as strict as we 1st thought.

I'd take anything said on their facebook page with a pinch of salt tbh as they don't seem to know what they are talking about and have been advising people that if you win you get told there and then on the site when you don't you get told via email the following day

Looks like they are playing fast and loose with their T&C's, one for the ASA to have a peek at.

Hmm, it's funny I come across this as I am eating a packet of promotional competition M&M's as I speak (yes I am eating M&Ms for breakfast, I am a scourge on society lol). Don't know whether to enter as I have no kids so it would just be me and my mum on any holiday I won.
  • Going to call the organising company in a bit so will update you Izzie
