Well,
I am a regular user of MSE, and have had threads before, but I wanted to start out on a clean slate, especially as things have got away from me so badly.:(
Sooo, I have a mortgage, and there is 66 grand (I think, I will check later), I have been regularly overpaying.
I was up until the beginning of this year, paying other adhoc amounts, chipping away at it. But, what with one thing and another, I have found myself with other debts (all zero percent), and I want to get back to a position of no debt other than the mortgage so that I can pay it down as quickly as possibl;e
I am a single parent to two kids, one at Uni, and one due to to in Sept. This is partly why my finances have been derailed, as I try to support them where I can.
Currently, I am not working, through choice. I am a contractor, and am taking the summer off, which perhaps contradicts what I am trying to achieve, but I still draw a salary from my limited company, and have dividends which should see me through, without taking more from my company. I will probably start applying for new contracts at the beginning of August. This may change if I start to panic.
Soo, early challenge to start paying down (or setting aside money to pay when zero percent ends):
Santander 123 cc -- current balance 4965
Lloyds -- current balance 1963
I also have a directors loan of £10,000 which I have to pay back at the end of the year, although 8 of it is already covered,
So far, I have applied for an M&S current account , which, as well as giving me £100 in M&S vouchers, allows me to open a regular saver (£250 month at 6%
). Just need to work on making extra to put elsewhere.
This may be a bit rambling, so sorry if anyone is reading it, I will write more later, but just wanted to get this off the ground
