I live in Australia, I get up at 6am in the summer and get some cleaning done each day before it gets too much. I find that if i do a little bit then I can keep on top of it :-) I also find that as we are out of the house more, that it stays tidier anyway!

I remember that summer well. I went to stay with a school friend who had invited me as well as a few friends to stay a few days.

They all went to Droitwich Lido. I went with them but had to sit and bake at the side of the pool under the shade looking after the baby as i was on my period. It was torture.

Im coping with the heat by doing one room at a time.

Do you have a loft hatch that you could open? I've done this before, leaving it open all night for the heat to escape upwards. More secure than leaving windows open overnight but please don't forget about it and walk into it like I did! (It hinges down from the ceiling)
I apologised to company last night for the state of place due to fact that it had been sunny! Luckily it was my sister and brother in law who agreed with me that there are plenty of wet days to catch up on housework. And if you can get around to washing, it does dry quickly :)

On the exceptionally hot days, I'm afraid I only did as much cleaning as was required for hygiene reasons. I don't "do" heat.

One small tip - if you're suffering, cool down the insides of your wrists with cold water or ice. It's a pulse point, and it helps the rest of you cool down.
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)

I keep the windows, blinds and curtains closed in each room as the sun gets round to them. Opening the windows will only let the heat in. Clean in the morning when it's cooler, if you can.

Remember also, when it's hot, everyone's hot, so they will probably be having the same problems as you in trying (an often failing) to do the housework. My answer - leave most of it till a cooler day.

If you think cleaning the house is hard work in this weather, try mucking out 9 horses before breakfast!

Ours are out full time at the moment and have been since May! They have their fly rugs on and their own version of Deet fly repellant and they are pretty happy! The next job is to get the rubber mats out, other than that the doors are just left open 24/7! I don't know too many others who have got their horses stabled at present either; other than race horses most are fully turned out!

Housework - keep the curtains closed for much of it and do little and often. Vacuum one day, dust the next. We have a four bedroomed farmhouse and although we do have the sea breeze coming in, I crack on early morning and get the big jobs done. You can get quite a bit done in half an hour each day!

I don't 'do' heat either (I'm a ginger). As soon as the temperature goes over about 23 C I'm instantly red in the face, soaked with sweat and get all irritable.

I cope with it by soaking an old jersey dress in water and wearing it around the house and keeping my hair wet. I then get under a cold shower fully dressed once an hour or so. I also go barefoot or wear flip flops. Keeping your feet and head cool seems to have the most effect. If you don't want to go that far, a wet towel draped round your neck is a good one too (pulse point in the side of your neck).

I just did the bare minimum of housework while it was hot and spent the rest of the time in the garden. My garden has very little shade so I pegged a couple of sheets on the washing line and sat behind them :)

A lot cooler here this week, so doing as much housework as I can in case there's another mini heatwave.

My cat is very fluffy and suffers terribly too (also a ginger :D). I drape a wet flannel over him and he loves it.

    Hot Pu$$y + Wet Flannel = Cool Kitty :D

Don’t try to keep up with the Jones’s. They are broke!
