News about online Banking

I have just got back from the bank (a 16 mile round trip) having been in tears of frustration to discover this amazing wonderful news that online banking is back.
Not having online access to check my account has cost me about £60 in fines in the 3 months since declaring myself bankrupt. I hardly have enough money to cover living expenses and am constantly having to juggle money around (borrowing from one account to pay a bill through another and paying back when I've earned enough).
I honestly thought today I was going to have a breakdown. I went into the bank to transfer some money into my bills/rent account. I had to use a machine as there are no people left...Having logged in I went to the transfer page...at the bit it was asking me to choose amount it said available funds £206 so I asked it to transfer £200....oh no it seems I actually had insufficient funds....So I went back to the balance page ...on the balance page it said balance £198 available balance £206 ...oh of course.... it all made sense. The chap I asked to help me just said 'oh dont worry it's all ok thats because the statement hasnt caught up yet.' so I howled "but why cant the computer tell itself ?" and he said "its the statement" and we went round in circles for a while until I literally ran from the bank.
I AM SO RELIEVED thank you for posting this or I would never have known I am safe now. I just logged on to personal banking ...... phew
Goink bankrupt is hard enough...not having enough money to live on is hard enough...having banking trickery is almost the last straw..0 -
My poor grammar - I mean when they withdrew the facility for undicharged BR's to open an account - not that they removed the e-facility.....but they never removed this facility for undischarged BR`s they actually stopped letting undischarged BR`s open an account, thereby reducing the choice further for BR`s.
As for paying any monies to the OR, it is possible to do so via a 3rd party, I know quite a few who did this when they were unable to open a bank account.
Yes - you can do it though a 3rd party - but that makes life difficult for the BR and the OR. The gov had a flagship 'digital inclusion' policy. How do you pay benefits to someone without their own account?
I wasn't trying to pick a fight - I have an opinion based on what I read at the time about the co-op opt out and Barclays staying tight lipped. It isn't an issue if others don't agree with the opinion - The reality is that just a few years before - most BR's couldn't open accounts at all - the Barclays and co-op options were improvements. Why would banks voluntarily offer accounts to people whom they could make no money from without being 'encouraged' ? I have yet to find a bank that felt it should offer a social service.
...and HSBC were wobbling too, they just didn't use tax payers money ... http://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/87153/Now-recession-hits-HSBC-as-it-calls-on-investors-for-12-5billion0 -

I have to wait until I receive the online banking pass code thing in the post, should be here by next week.
Does anyone know for definite whether you can also use the mobile banking app too?0 -
I've been round the houses with them and their complaints teams regarding online banking ever since I was made bankrupt.
Discovered the other day it let me logon all of a sudden. Haven't had any official communication from Barclays though that it was actually something that's happened across the board. About time.
Seems everything apart from Credit & Savings applications is working as normal (report a card stolen, transfers out etc).
I'm in the process of closing the account down so too little too late, in this day and age online banking is a bare minimum - particularly for people trying to keep a tab on their money.
crystalcag - kick off via the complaints route that lack of online banking has made your life a lot harder managing your finances. I got all my fees refunded, £60 account credit and 2 bottles of wine after the last 7 months of chaos with them. I'm off to LBG now though - they've left my account open, and resent me cards/chequebooks etc so happy to be shot of Barclays.0 -

Just had a try at registering with my work phone. It's blocked
Yet another crazy decision from Barclays - why allow internet but not app, is it not the same data...........!!!!!0 -
Barclays finally confirmed today that I can get the online banking block removed by phone I have to go into branch - went into branch to be told that they'll only do it if I have proof that my bankruptcy is discharged!!
I give up!!xxx Nikki xxx0 -
Complain about being given the run-around?No, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......0
