Double Mortgage Payment Error

Hi All,
I changed mortgage facilities within my bank which basically put me on a better rate. The new mortgage took effect on May 29th and the new amount was taken from my account on June 2nd, however on this date the amount for my old mortgage was taken too. The Bank have said I'll be refunded on July 15th, however this month the same thing has happened. Obviously this has had an impact on me and left me struggling a little, do I have any rights? The Bank are only offering to refund the two amounts which is £1100 on July 15th but nothing else.

The bank have said as my account didn't default due to having sufficient funds that I'm not impacted.0

if you have money in your account then they have an argument.
If your balance is down to a couple of quid then you could argue you could not afford to go out and they have ruined your weekend in which case you might get a bit for compo (but only £20-50, were not talking hundreds).
Jump back on the phone kick up a fuss, its your money you are entitled to it back if you have overpaid.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. How were the payments taken? If they were taken by Direct Debit then you are covered the DD guarentee meaning you are entitled to a full and immediate refund because the agreed amount differs from the amount taken. If its by Direct Debit call your current account provider and tell them you want to do a DD indemnity. If your current account and mortgage are with the same provider then speak to the current account dept and not the mortgage team.0
