How old are you? If you are not retired, perhaps you should be thinking more about investing, and in particular into a pension. Especially if you have a decent work pension available with employers' contributions up for grabs.
I am 25 and 90% of my money is in investments. Long term 15 - 20 year funds. I top them up once a month when I get paid.
The other 10% is just in a high interest current account for if something breaks and I need instant access to money. Personally for me investment = savings (with risk). I've been investing for 2 years or so now and I've just developed an addiction to it.
I don't play with the money, switching funds or anything stupid like that but whenever I think about spending money I just think I could be saving that and yeh, pretty annoying.0 -
I would not say I have an addiction to saving, it's just a hobby, I have a few different hobbies and these days I choose hobbies that cost little or nothing to pursue.
I also dislike buying expensive things, I don't think that's an extra £200 I can save though, when I save £200 rather then spending it I focus on the interest I can make from the £200.
its a nice little hobby, don't get me wrong if I want something I'll buy it, it's just 90% of the time I want to save (and draw interest from) the money more than I want whatever it is I was looking at in the shop.Earn, Save and Achieve0
