Identity theft and traders

Hi folks, not sure if this is the right forum section, but just wanted to know people's thoughts about traders working in the house and identity theft.
I'm sure we have all had traders working around the house from time to time and sometimes unsupervised, so surely there's a chance of them getting hold of details that could lead to them carrying out identity theft, taking out loans etc? Or is it too risky as they are known to people and risk being caught more easily?
Any experience of this and is there any way to increase your security against it? Passwords for credit checks etc? Extra security cover etc

I'd imagine you have more chance of being hit by a bus than a tradesman using your id to apply for stuff, If you are worried then lock anything away or stay throughout the duration of the work.


Would also say you more likely to be robbed with this type of fraud via online means or using your cards in shops and so forth.

Possible but unlikely. Take precautions if you are worried.

I think you will find men that do dirty hard sweaty jobs working with their hands do so, because they are usually honest.
You will find most people that steal and rob and cheat in life tend to avoid the "hard graft" bit of life.
Hence why they do it.
