i was justing wondering if there was anyone on here with any experience of the recruitment process, or even employed by the police force, who have any hints or advice i could pass on to him?

They will be looking for him to have put some effort into finding about the force he intends to apply for - visit to a station, ride in police car etc. Policing plan and force policies - especially diversity.

If you give me some more detail about his previous and where he intends to apply then will be able to help further.

    Cheers Paul

Tell him not to do it! The shifts are crap, in the main he'll only meet people who want to spit in his face, punch his lights out or sue him ... and that's just the victims of crime! Wait til he comes face to face with the actual offenders!

My Dad was a police man.

Suggest he never has children (piglets - barely humourous but hey!)
    Get good life cover
    Get good medical cover
    Get understanding wife/Girlfriend
Get a great sense of achievement. Its a big job these days - so wish him luck from me. Someone has to do it - and on the rare occasions I have called them out, they have been a great help.
