Is there a fault to find? It would need to be big enough to override 7 years of otherwise 'good behaviour', assuming you have that. :)

I don't think say. Just a lot of transactions and money spent! Is a mortgage broker necessary for piece of mind. I've looked at Nationwide and like their rates and supposedly fast and popular on this board!

I've had accounts with Nationwide since I was a child (now 30) and re-mortgaged direct them last year. The in house mortgage seller was fine although their 'free' solicitors weren't the best, but to be honest I'm having as much trouble with ones that I'm paying direct now in terms of having to chase up and correct things... I would have taken my initial mortgage with them but they required a larger deposit on new build flats than I had access to at the time, so went with Woolwich.

I'm using a broker although still applying with Nationwide for my new mortgage, because the developer that I'm buying from paid the broker fees. Otherwise I would have gone direct myself, as other than being a single applicant rather than part of a couple my case is simple. No CCJs, no defaults, no debts other than student loan, same job for 7.5 years, lived in the same place for 4.5 years on the electoral roll and with all accounts registered there.
