I've got married - am I covered?

After getting married I decided I wasn't going to change my name on my car insurance as it was too much hassle, it expires in October so I thought I'd just do it then.
However I realised AXA have no admin fees for changes online so I went to do it today, only to find they want an additional premium - for changing my name, title, and marital status, and my named driver OH's marital status.
So I didn't make the change, and now OH thinks we won't be covered. Opinions?

When you change your name after marriage, you don't give up your birth name. If you want to, you can carry on using your birth name for some things and your married name for others.0 -

But would my insurance matter, as my marital status is now married and I haven't told them this?Excuse any mis-spelt replies, there's probably a cat sat on the keyboard0 -
If it is free to do online, firstly check what the status is currently showing as.
Change the items individually and see which one is trigger the price change. My guess is marital status but normally going to married would be a discount so its a little surprising unless its a fact they rerate the policy on todays rates rather than the rates when you first bought the policy in which case that can make sense if their premiums have generally increased this year0 -

Yes it is the marital status which is triggering the price change, I would have thought the same as you, married people should be lower risk, but I guess what you say about today's rates makes sense aswell.
Any opinion on whether I would be covered still if I didn't tell them?Excuse any mis-spelt replies, there's probably a cat sat on the keyboard0 -
Your policy documents will dictate whether you have to tell them about the change immediately, or just when you get to renewal time.
The AXA policy document I found online here lists (on page 27) lists several type of change whcih you have to tell them about immediately (getting married isn't one of them) and says that any other change has to be reported when you renew.
You should check whether your own policy document says the same, as they do change from time to time, but if it does then not telling them about the change until you renew won't affect your cover.0 -
Excellent, thank you very much for finding that Aretnap!Excuse any mis-spelt replies, there's probably a cat sat on the keyboard0
