Please feel free to delete if this is no help, but just browsing here I see that its quite difficult to get a bank account when bankrupt, and the few that are available seem to have very few facilities. Well about a year ago I opened a Ffrees account. Technically its a pre paid card, but as far as using it is concerned its very much like a current account, and in fact I like it so much I am gradually using it more and my current accounts less. It has a very good online service - I particularly like its 'jam jars' which allow me to ring fence money for various things so I cant spend it accidentally. There are a few different options for the account but I have the most basic, which has no fees, and its perfectly fine for my needs. You also get a % back in quite a number of shops and can set up regular payments too (definately standing orders, not sure what others).
I promise Im not on commission from them!!:p I just find them really good and thought it might be helpful if you are struggling to find an account.

Thanks for that- However, Barclays and the co-op are pretty good the only thing basic accounts don't give you as far as I can see - is credit! - and they report to the CRA to help build a credit score.
Jam Jar accounts are available at most Credit Unions and at least most CU's give a small dividend.
For those who really are excluded (BRO or CIPFA) markers, pre-pay accounts may be the only way to go I guess.0
