County Court Letter requests I attend to receive documents in person

This is the letter I received:
URGENT DO NOT IGNORE THIS NOTICE

I have a matter for which I must see you in person please call in to the Leicester County Court between 07:30am and 09:30am on MONDAY 6 JULY 2015 the bailiff has some documents that must be served on you personally.

If you fail to comply with these instructions the matter may be referred to a Judge and could lead to the issue of a warrant for your ARREST and COMMITAL to prison for your contempt of court for a period of NOT EXCEEDING 7 DAYS.

THIS LETTER HAS BEEN HAND BY THE COURT BAILIFF IF YOU HAVE ANY ISSUES REGARDING THE ABOVE PLEASE CONTACT THE BAILIFF ON THE FOLLOWING NUMBERS:

XXXXXXXXXXX

I don't know what it's about. I've had County Court Bailiffs come before regarding unpaid Council Tax but it was resolved. Any ideas what documents need to be given in person? I don't know why they didn't just come to the door.

Thank you.

I'm not sure, but I suggest you comply with their demand and attend in person. You will have your answer. Is there anything that you can think of, anything at all? In any case, dont be pressured into agreeing to anything then and there. Have your wits about you and read all information given to you carefully.

Have you tried calling the number given?

Call the court rather than the bailiff to check if genuine.

Yes, that's what I would do, call the court.

    Hi

I’m not sure what this is for but it’s probably worth giving us a call on 0808 808 4000 once you’ve found out what the issue is.

    Bankruptcy petition ?
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

If the wording above is exactly what was written in the letter I would question whether this is genuine

Such poor English and also the use of first person at the start and the lack of proper punctuation.

Also court premises open at 07:30 in the morning?

it does sound a bit odd. whether the baliff is hoping you turn up, then all there work is done.

Attachment to earnings on a ccj, or an order to obtain information possibly.

Not council tax as that is magistrates court.

I agree - phone first to check. The Leicester court bailiffs have their own number: 0116 222 5717

If it does turn out to be genuine, then make sure to take a trusted friend or two along with you. That way, you will be less likely to agree to something without thinking it through.

Court opens 0800, not 0730. What is the letterhead?

Frankly, this looks like a try on. If not attending is contempt of court, then there should be a court order in place and I would expect to see the letter say what this is about.
