Mortgage vs Deed of Trust (Advice)

Me and my partner (unmarried) are moving into a new house together but the mortgage will be in his name only but as we are splitting the mortgage and bills in half we will get a Deed of Trust drawn up to cover me if we were to split up... Now does this protect me as much as a mortgage?
Many thanks for any advice here!

You should seek independent legal advice on this as it is not an issue Mortgage Brokers are qualified to give advice on.0
