Separation, mortgages and endowment policies...

Hi - I hope someone can help me with this!

I separated about 5 years ago - husband continues to live in matrimonial home
Anyway, he's now keen to "sort this out" as I'm still on the mortgage and endowments. The endowment policies were with CGU life and Scottish Amicable and I was hoping to contact them to find out forecast values if the endowments run to full term (paid off in 2015) and also the surrender values 5 years ago to give me some figures to work on. However, it appears that in the 5 years since I dealt with these companies, they have both been swallowed up by other companies. I think Scottish Amicable are now owned by Prudential but having problems tracking down CGU. Does anyone know who now owns CGU?

Also, any ideas whether they will give me information that I need without policy numbers etc and if they are likley to copy me into any future correspondence if I request it?

Is it possible that he has changed terms of the mortgage (e.g. from endowment to repayment) without my knowledge or would my signature be required.

I'd be grateful for any information or help.....thanks :)

  • Hello

You are right about Scottish Amicable.

CGU became CGNU (Commerical General Norwich Union) Now part of AVIVA

surrender of a joint life policy requires both to sign.

You should be able to request seperate mail. Plus you dont need the policy numbers (although it helps).
