:hello:
I went to the CAB yeaterday and the man was great, really helpful and helped put my mind at ease regarding creditors etc.
But he's basically said i have little/no money to pay creditors and is going to offer them £1 a month.
But he also tole me to look at bankruptcy
I really dont want to go down that route, plus i cant afford to anyway lol
I've just opened a letter from the council who have informed me that i have been overpaid nearly £200 in council ta benefit so now i have to pay £0 on 1st september, i thought it was only £35, where am i gonna find the rest?
they are really hackng me off, £400 of my rent arrears are because of them and their stuipd rules and regualtions
I just dont know what to do anymore, i had council tax arrers of £200, got tooken to court and finished paying it off last week and now this!
I'm trying to scrimp and save and am writing down my spends, well started yeaterday but i dont think i'll ever get it sorted, i've always been crap with money just like my dad.:o
Not really sure of the reason for this post but hey ho

If CAB have reccomended bankruptcy as an option, then you should, at least, look at the overall implications.
If you can no longer manage your debts, and if you have no sizeable assetts, such as a house, then Bankruptcy could well be a serious option.
Maybe a second opinion, from CCCS or National Debtline, would be a good option.
Also, why not post your SOA, listing Income, Expenditure and Debts - then we may be able to give more specific advice.I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.

thanks for replies, i'm just writing up an updated SOA so will post it up in a bit.
Skinted - I can do overtime, but it's a bit difficult at the moment because my mum would look after my son whilst i work but she cant at the moment.
As far as the bankruptsy option thats a definate no, i couldnt find the money to go bankrupt!
I think if all my creditors agreed to a token payment at least for the time being i could manage, if i cut down on my outgoings, i've spoken to work about manning the out of hours phone and they need people, it's only £25 per night, but if i did that then thats an extra £100ish a month, i'd pay out more in rent and council tax but i'm sure it wouldnt match up iyswim.0 -
Hi melly,
Just remember regarding Housing & Council Tax benefit that for every £1.00 extra you earn, 65p extra must be paid to rent, 20p extra to council Tax so you are left with 15p for every extra £1.
I personally don't think it is worth it because also if your income goes up you will possibly lose some Tax Credits.
