Deeds release fee with Yorkshire bank...

I am looking to pay my mortgage off in September. I rang yourshire bank today, and they said that I would have to pay £195. This is to release the deeds apparently, though I already have them electronically I don't really need them.

Also on my original mortgage agreement 7 years ago, the fees were nothing. Surely I shouldn't be expected to pay £195 now?

the guy on the phone also said that I could pay the £195, and due to the spotlight currently on mortgage fees, could probably claim it straight back...

Any thoughts..

    Refusre to pay this fee if it isnt mentioned on in your original mortgage agreement. Ignore the suggestion to pay and then claim back - don't pay in the first place.
