Can your ex use Transferwise.com? It's very cheap to send money, but I guess it's about where he lives now.
If you are weekly paid, is it possible to chip away at the debts weekly? Barclaycard don't take a DD is the minimum amount has already been given.0 -

Definitely you should. They can do amazing things over there. Almost £720 a month on food is a lot. They are very nice over there and won't savage you for what you spend, but they will be shocked!
Have seen similar sized family shops at well under half your spend, and if you only cut £200 a month off that's like a raise of £2400 a year!
Good luck with it

Its not that much that was just week 1 in the month when everything had run out, usually around £450 a month all in,0 -
What on earth are you buying? We average £70 - £80 per week for two adults, two teenagers and an active 7 year old. I don't think I even spent that much at Xmas.
Nappies £20
Baby Milk £15
Baby food £10
Wipes £5
there is £50 before you even start buying food for the rest of us

Hi,
Your problem is this business which is costing you a fortune and producing no income. You need to ask yourself honestly if this is ever going to change? If the answer is no then you need to bring this to a close. I do not understand the implications of doing this but you should give National Business Debtline on 0800 197 6026. They give free and impartial advice.
If you sort the business out get a job in september you should be on the road to recovery. If things come on top and you can't pay your normal bills then you need to speak to one of the charities about that.£1000 Emergency fund No90 £1000/1000

Hello,
sorry I didn't get a chance to pop back yesterday - my son has been poorly (the last thing I needed!)
I will look at transferwise, thank you - he lives over in Dublin now, so I think the exchange rate is bothering him. While it is a pain to have some saved up and transferred over in one lump, it also helps me, as I have no savings I always like to think of someone saving for me (with better willpower than me!) plus I still get £250pm from him.
I agree the business is the downfall - I am tied into it for another 4 years and can be taken to court for the fees if I default on this. I could try and sell the business, but I am not sure that anyone would want it - the last years figures don't make for great reading and I stupidly paid £12k for it. I can't believe I made such a stupid mistake. My only other thought was to get a job, suck up the £350pm payment for the next 4 years and just hope I make enough in addition to that to cover it as well. I am nervous of doing this though as there is just me, being in typical employment with my son leaves me no cover for school holidays / sickness etc. I don't know how best to make everything work!
I have called Vodafone who say that they cant do anything until 75 days before the end of my contract. I signed up on June 20th so I have another 12 months to go. I have made so many stupid decisions!
My Capital one rate is 34.94% and barclaycard is 34.9 and I am still locked out of vanquis for some reason but am thinking it is similar rate.
I am feeling really down today, I can't believe I am in such a blummin mess!0 -
Hi
I think even with typical employment you would be able to get flexibility, most companies know people have children and there is paid holiday and sickness etc which you currently dont have.
you need money!
even part time work will help you out.
I would look at the costs for getting out of the business, it may be better to just pay it off now, so you can recover rather than just pee your money down the drain.Total Debt in Feb 2015 - £6,052 | DEBT FREE 26/05/2017Swagbucks £200 Valued Opinions £100Dave Ramsey Baby Step 2 | Mr Money Mustache Addict0 -
Cal Vodafone back and keep trying with them - I had this fairly recently, wanted to reduce my monthly from £58 to circa £20 but keep all the features of the original contract (6 months left of a 2 year contract). 1st person said no, can't be done. Called back a week later and spoke to someone who wasn't an automaton and they were very helpful. I'm now paying £18 per month with all the same features of the original contract.
Good luck with everything, there's plenty of really helpful and friendly people on here who will help with ideas.0 -

Few suggestions:
-aldi and Lidl wipes and nappies are cheaper than this.
- if you really wanted to save, look out on freecy le, gumtree etc for someone offering re useable nappies. Buy a cheap fleece blanket £3 in wilko , cut into squares = reuseable baby wipes. Ok, bit gross at first having to rinse them out and wash, but does save
- food- £5 stick blender - some cheap veggies, or whatever you're eating- wiz zz with blender and practically free baby food. Can freeze in portion sizesLBM Sept 2012 ~£44 Sept 15: £~5233

Have you contacted Tax Credits? If this is a long term decrease in earnings, you will likely get a higher tax credit band which could increase those a bit.
Defo check out the old stylers board for grocery spends. They will get that down a bit for you.
Check out your franchise contract properly and hunt for get out clauses. Can you use social media etc as heavily as you can to drum up business? It's a free advertising tool with huge potential in a lot of industries. Also, gumtree and ebay classifieds can work well.
Treat mum to a nice home cooked meal rather than a meal out.
Try to set aside a small emergency fund for those unexpected expenses.
Hope this helps a little, and good luck.Mum of 2 monkey. 4 yrs and 2 yrs :j
