Could I be disciplined for a FB post unrelated to work?

Why would ACAS know what your employer is going to do...unless they are your employer? As a new user, I cannot quote yet.
I have no idea on how my employer will act with me about this. This is why I posted this.
Each dyslexic has different issues. Mine are emotions and motor as I cannot ride a bike. Another friend has difficulties with 9 and 6 and p and d.
The two women that reported to see my manager on Thursday. As I have no idea why they needed to see him as the only work thing with this is one of them using threatening language at me when I was working. The FB post was not directed at them or any particular person or people. They have made a mountain of a molehill. I wouldn't be in the worried state if they did nothing. I cannot tell if they have seen him or not.
Shall I ring ACAS for their advice? I think they know what my employer is likely to do.Don't trust a forum for advice. Get proper paid advice. Any advice given should always be checked0 -
While you may be correct about how this may work out practically, the line of argument is totally unacceptable.Takeaway_Addict wrote: »It could be investigated under general disrepute, the fact that the posting brought women into the store causing issues is enough.
If the line of thinking you portray here becomes common currency, it would become quite the norm for stupid and angry women [or men for that matter] to pursue their disagreements over facebook postings by turning up at the workplace of whoever they hold responsible for the posting and creating a sufficient scene to get that person sacked.
Again, you may be correct about how this may work out - particularly if the employer is not prepared to draw a sensible line on what does and does not bring their name into disrepute. However, all decent people should firmly resist and reject any such line of thinking which allows people to be thus pressurised via their employment.0 -
I would just point-out that in the openning post, the op mentioned that the post on FB was anon. so nothing to link the post to the op.
In their postion, I would have just said to the manager that a customer had entered the store and acted in an aggresive and threatening manner towards you as she had believed me to have been behind an anonymous FB posting, which I was not.
The employer would need proof that you made the posting which the mad woman would not be able to provide.
I'll bet that when Thursday comes, the manager will listern to the two women, decide they are being over-reactive and ban the pair of them from the store.Never Knowingly Understood.

Sounds like the fb post wasn't as anonymous as you thought.Spotted pages, for those that don't know are pages that you can post anonymously, providing you start with 'Anon' The post was not targeting anyone or anywhere This post is totally unrelated to work.
When the post got published, a few nasty women that live near me commented on this with nasty replies. I wasn't expecting that kind of response. So I unliked the group and blocked the women.
The following day, I was at work in the DIY/Gardening/soft furnishings shop. I was changing the promotional banners to the side of the shop. One of the women, turned up from nowhere shouting threatening things at me about this FB post. What she said was lies. All I said was excuse me, I'm working.0 -
I am new to the website and forum. Please respect newbies
Of course you are, and welcome to the forum
Any advice given here is based on half the story. You've posted before about problems with your neighbours and problems at work and the general feeling has been that the issue is not all in one direction.0 -

.
I think that is what these women want to achieve. I just hope and pray anyone that was near or heard her shout at me is decent enough to contact work. I wasn't aware of anyone around at the time as brain zoned in her yelling at me. Chances are, there would be people around as it was a busy time of time and day.
If I heard a similar commotion as a customer, I would contact the organisation as customers and members of the public should not treat the poorly paid shop workers like this.0 -
I was also wondering how anyone would know it was you from an anonymous post. Care to explain?
Plus do you not have work colleagues who may have noticed a spot of shouting going on, and come to investigate? (Although if we're talking B&Q, it's a bit more likely given that staff are like gold dust in those places.)All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have not could of.0 -

The good news is was the Thursday just gone, the 25th.. I am saying supposed as I heard nothing from any of the managers, colleagues, the women. I've stayed away from the latter. I think if my manager could tell it was a non work related issue the FB post raised, he would tell the women that fact straight. Then say, nothing can be done.
Besides, the meeting happened 10 days before I go back to work. Things at work are normally forgotten quickly
Edit - its not B&Q as they don't sell cushions, duvet covers etc. like we do.0 -
If your post was anonymous, how have you been identified as the author
of the said post? Could you plausibly deny authorship of the post if push comes to shove and your employer does raise this issue with you?"You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0 -

If their report of the post is accurate there is no reason to deny it. It had nothing to do with work whatsoever and was perfectly reasonable. The story we are being told involves two irrational people seeking to cause trouble for the OP and any reasonable employer would see it as this, ban them from the store and call the police should they return.
That is if their report of the situation is accurate.0
