Travel Insurance to USA

Seventh Anniversary Combo Breaker
I'm going to Florida in November, was just wondering if anyone can recommend who the best company for travel insurance would be as our flight is from Dublin... I know there was an issue with companies before where they only covered UK residents if they flew out of a UK airport...

  • We were not only travelling from Dublin but also needed cover for medical conditions. We used Globelink. I know Columbus also cover Dublin flights. I'm sure there are others, the most important thing is to ask the question about flying from Dublin specifically before buying insurance. Happy holiday, we`'re going next year and are already excited!

    We've always got our annual insurance through Boots as they provide comprehensive cover for USA/Canada trips. As the journey starts when we leave our home in Northern Ireland, they confirmed that we would be covered to fly from Dublin. As we needed to include pre-existing medical conditions, we organised it by phone which took no more than about 20 minutes. As 2gorgeousgirls says, you'd be best to ask about flying from Dublin just to make sure you are covered.

    Used Sainsburys last time we went to the US.Was very reasonable as our company consisted of 2 type1 diabetics and a fella with angina.Totally agree with everyone else and double check about flying out of the dub.Think it best to write a list of questions always helps as have found policy t&c's can change on the toss of a coin.Nearly got caught out one year when I read small print and everything was covered bar the diabetes,lady on phone had forgot to mention this important detail.Luckily was within the cancellation period.:)

    Hi, I have always used Nationwide Flexplus Account, Worldwide Travel Insurance, (also Breakdown Cover, Mobile Phone Cover, Extended Warranty, Identity Theft & Card Assistance), cost just £10.00 Month, really great offer, if you open up Account with Nationwide via Quidco/TCB, they were giving £78.75 Cashback as well, so roughly only £40.00 cost for Year.

    When I opened up account, about year ago now, the Cashback was £80.00 and at that time you didn't have to close your existing bank account, but I think by reading it now, you have to use the account swapping service. £80.00 was paid no problems!!
