  • Hi Optimistic Kate,

Your post about takeaways made me laugh- in our house it's always me who says "I don't fancy that tonight" then calling out for takeaway, it's making my bank balance dwindle and my waistline grow! At least this hot weather is putting me off food a bit, tonight we are having pancakes for dinner!

    Hope you enjoy your curry!

It's funny how food can be an emotional thing isn't it considering it is basically just necessary for our survival. But I get that sometimes where I have perfectly good 'energy' in the fridge & yet the call of the crispy duck or big fat pizza is just too strong. :D

Sports day was a washout! Such a shame as weather has been great since.

Have to agree with bob. Takeaway was lovely but in about 15 mins food was gone and so had prob near on £35!

Doesn't taste so good anymore thinking about the money

IKEA trip today, will try and do a SOA this evening.

Must also get petrol. And install swag bucks TV. And put swing set on gumtree.

    Think that's all for today...

    Hello Kate,

The DFD date is partly in your control too, and with what I've read I'm really sure that date is the worst case scenario.

Sorry to keep throwing things at you to look at, but when things settle a bit for you, take a peek at YNAB as so many of us LOOOVVEEE it for helping us figure out our budget and where we spend etc so that we can really figure things out. It has a 30 day free trial, and I purchased mine in the first week or so of January for just £7.95.

You're doing so well, it's really nice reading your updates.
  • Been AWOL for a couple weeks, done another 6 hours over time over the last 2 weeks. It's our sale coming up so il be doing a total of 18 extra hours  thank goodness it's in the evening when the children are in bed and dh is home. If he is working on the Saturday than my lovely mum has said she will come over early and look after children until lunchtime when I should be home.

I will be looking forward to next months payslip.

Dreaded food shop today. Am trying to write a proper list this morning while ds2 naps. Write what I actually need and will not impulse buy because a nice treat is on offer.

Must admit to taking my eye off the ball money wise :o see how much we have left over on payday but at least I won't be overdrawn :)

I haven't got the food shop under £90 let alone £80 so I'll see how today goes.

Oh and I'm still looking for a house, we found a three bed in our area but a couple went for it too and because they didn't have children they got it! Apparently the landlord didn't think his 3 bed house with a conservatory was big enough for a family of five (believe me it was) and so for a wear and tear reason decided on the couple. I'm a bit cross as it was far too big for 2 people. Prue Greediness.
Hope your all well and good x

  • :j food shop was £81.11. Let's hope it last the week (except milk) and hopefully when I do get the milk il be strong enough to resist those chocolate deals!

Nsd today too so things looking up. X

  • I need more hours in the day! Working 8pm-11pm until sat then over the weekend and Monday. I know the money will be good to have next month but it means I'm chasing my tail doin school runs, housework, drop offs. On top of family commitments and helping family move home. Falling asleep by 9pm so il prob be knackered by Tuesday morning once mad rush at work is done.

Three things I would like to achieve this week are -

    Do a SOA
Sort YNAB or at least look at it !!
Put baby rucksack on eBay or gumtree.

I've given in the housing benefit forms but haven't got any wage slips for dh new job so included his employment letter stating his salary and his contract. Shall see if that's enough. Does anyone here know?

Will try and keep up with threads. Not a NSD as needed milk and jam.

Made cupcakes for lunch boxes and a Victoria sponge (hence jam) and used up ingredients from store cupboard that we're going out of date this month. Usually would have chuck them. :) x
