14.8.07 what small dfw/mse thing will you do or have you done today?

Good Morning fellow DFW Peeps and welcome old timers and newbies alike :hello:

Welcome to Tuesday!

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free.

Examples could be charging your phone up at work instead of at home to save your electricity, hanging the washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important.

So, today I will:
  • check online banking and update spreadsheet
  • do mystery shopping report I forgot to do yesterday :o
  • do some baking for the freezer
  • take the children to football on "kids for a quid"
  • have a DVD & homemade popcorn day because it is raining!
  • not increase my debt in any way
  • be positive :D
  • do storecupboard dinner
Have a good day everyone x

    Today I will:
    • Only spend the £4.40 it costs to take my 1 year old swimming (which seems a lot given that he wears himself out after 15 mins mad splashing!)
    • Take the £7 of coins that I found in a forgotten jar (hurrah!) to the nice lady at the post office who will change it up for me
    • Pitch to 3 venues for my photography business
    • Put a book on amazon
    • Appreciate and enjoy what I have
    • Cook according to meal plan
Have a great day everyone. Is this rain national or is it just here?! :rotfl:

    Today I will:
    • Find a nice big jar for the £2 coins (and tape the bloomin lid on!)
    • Fill out the CCCS DMP forms that arrived today
    • Attempt to 'meal-plan' in anticipation of tomorrow's weekly food shop
    • Make my shopping list and price it up using the online Asda store (Smartprice, please!)
    • Send another snotty email to Yes Loans (I STILL want our £49.50 back, the swines!)
    • Hmmmmm... that's all I can think of, but it'll keep me out of trouble for a while...
    Happy days! :j

Today I bought a pack up from home again (and sat and ate it whilst being on here)

Shopping later but I wrote a list and then checked prices on tesco (and sainburys - way more expensive) website and so have a target price - hope it's ok (have some coupons to use too)

Then tonight I have a list of 'stuff to do':

Talk to OH about changing BT to monthly payments so our budgets are easier
Try and finally get powergen to sort out our gas bill (new property and having problems)
Phone the AA to see if I can get a deal on breakdown as renewal was rediculous (have phoned in the past and got a big reduction so see what they say)
Put some things on ebay - keep not getting round to this.:o
Update all our budgets (I am the queen of spreadsheets now)
    Initial Mortgage January 2024 - £160,000
Initial Mortgage free date - January 2058
    Mortgage as of 1st February 2024 - £159,134.98
    Overpayments to date - £79.62
Current Mortgage free date - January 2058

    Today I have
    - washed the reusable nappies that the postman brought, so should start saving me money (I actually got them free after I phoned and asked the company where I could buy nappy pads, they said they dont sell them individually, but sent me 12 free of charge!)
    - Have worked on my financial action plan, phoned a couple of companies etc
Hope to do more work on this
    - MIL is up from Wales (!) so will probably have a NSD, esp since I cant be bothered going out in the rain and the house is a mess, might get round to cleaning up
    - Need to photograph some items for ebay tonight
    - added a few £1 coins to my unopenable money tin

    Evening all.

Today's little things (to try & make up for some great big fat non DFW things I have done recently ) were:

    * Got a lift home from work instead of bus
    * Took HM lunch to work
    * Stayed in at lunchtime to avoid spending money (well - it was raining too!)
    * Found a card in a box of stationery I have to send to a friend
    * Will be off shortly to make more HM lunches for self & fiancé
    * Stayed in tonight & did housework instead of chartering a helicopter to London and being met by chauffeur to be whisked off for dinner. :rotfl:
    * Sold something else on EBAY though auction actually ends tomorrow so let's keep fingers crossed for a wee bit more, I could use every penny!
    * QuidCo searches & piggy comp entries
Bank Balance: In the black for the moment.
    Sainsburys Loan: Cleared July 2010
Credit cards: AMEX Airmiles Card: direct debit set to clear balance monthly

Wow LookingAhead, how wierd is it that we made the same decision? I've just finished my housework - decided the helicopter to London was a bit same old, same old!!:D :rotfl:
