Arts and crafts with the kids - ideas please

I have had such a nice time with my 3 kids today. I decided to do some crafty activities with them. I've never done this before because of the mess and also they were too young before but they're at a nice age to enjoy it now. So we made playdough, I taught them how to do cross stitch and we painted a bit. I would like to do more things like this with them over the school holidays but need ideas please xx

I was going to suggest sock puppets. You can also make faces and masks out of paper plates. Other good ones are designing your own board games, or building a cardboard town to drive your toy cars through.

When I was a kid we did a lot of camping, and we used to have fun designing our own camp sites. Needless to say, the adventure playground and BMX track ended up being much bigger than the spaces to pitch your tents and and caravans.

Bird necklaces! my grandkids loved doing these. you just string Cheerios or similar on string, then hang them up for the birds to enjoy! (they don't actually wear them). you don't need a garden either, you can hang them on a balcony or just outside a window.

you don't say how old the kids are but with three I would guess you have an age range of at least six years.
the internet is a great source of crafty inspiration. we often download free colouring pages etc.
and sites like Pinterest have some great ideas

Hama beads - but the cheaper ones from IKEA. Lots of designs you can Google on the web/pinterest.

We made a lovely camper van coaster for Dad the other week.

The CBeebies I Can Cook book is great - but you can also download a lot of the recipes straight from the CBeebies website. No tricky equipment needed and everything is oven cook.

Making pizzas is also fun and cheap.
  • :j these are fantastic suggestions, I can't wait to do these activities, thank you xxx :j
