Hi All, can anyone with a couple of queries?

If someone were to go bankrupt I understand they're discharged of their responsibilities to the original debt (once the amount set by the court is repaid). If 6 years after this when all trace of the B/R disappears from CRA's reports, what are the original creditors likelihood of offering the same customer any of their services? Are there known timeframes that apply for example?

Also, along the same vein - if in my case all the old debts and defaults have dropped off the CRA reports, but where payments are being made against the original debts, I presume that the original creditors keep 'open' any record of the old debt (even if said debt was passed on to a DCA for collection). I presume that the original creditors would flatly refuse to offer their services to someone in these circumstances whilst the old debts are not settled (either partially or in full)?

What would apply if the original debt was sold to a DCA? Do the original creditors keep a record of settled or partially settled debts indefinitely?, and so that company's services would be unavailable forever?

Lastly, what information do bank organisation creditors actually have access to? Do they know/can they establish any cars you were to own/any property/inheritance etc. I know they can't see into bank accounts, just unsure on exactly what they can find out about a persons finances.

Sorry for such a long winded set of questions on a sunday morning :search:

    Hi,
Different companies keep records for different lengths of time, I know Halifax, for example, keep records for up to 10 years, others only 6, it differs between them, according to there own policies.

I had a Bank account with a certain creditor, which was subject to an IVA, 6 years down the line, I`m back with the same bank, no record of the IVA exists with them after 6 years, so it is possible.
