OK, let's assume for the sake of argument that the NHS pension is far too good and replace it with a standard private sector pension... that's perfectly fine with me, assuming that we also start paying the staff the same regular monthly wage that they'd get in an equivalent position in the private sector.
(For reference, standard roles in my department earn around £33k a year altogether after overtime, plus pension. Identical roles in the private sector currently command a salary of between £45 and £60k, with no mandatory 24/7 on-call or overtime required and yearly rises in line with inflation)
