Just wondering if anyone has had this procedure done to correct eyesight only.

Hi, I think we messaged about this last year so I just wanted to add that my eyesight is still amazingly good although I had to have laser treatment for PCO just before Christmas last year (one year after the procedure) on my left eye. Apparently this is quite common after cataract surgery so I wasn't too bothered.

I hope you get some up-to-date information from other forum users and good luck for the future.
  • I have posted about this in the past, however it's still nce become a reality. I have had my initial assessment and the consultant said to correct my sight it would be the RLE procedure.

I am very very short sighted, so there are a number of concerns. I asked him a if I'm the worst sight he'd treated and the answer was the he'd carried out the procedure on someone with -28 eyesight. I'm -17, so brilliant eyesight compared.

I have another assessment in September and first eye done back end of march. The second in April.

Am just curious to know how this procedure has worked for people with sight similar to mine.

Aren't they concerned about retinal detachment? My consultant wouldn't do the op on me until I'd had PVD in both eyes because of the risk and I know you're a lot younger than I am. I was 57 when the op was done and he'd refused to do it for me 5 years earlier than that when I first saw him.
  • Yes it one of the risks is retinal detachment. As it stands at the moment I have a 4% chance of retinal detachment. However this goes up to 10%.

The risks involved and in my case are there regardless of whether or not I have the procedure. It's just weighing up the pros and considered.
