Is it an insurance cheque, or is it cash.

If its cash, ask for a discount....if not a discount, something free.. free case, software, spare blank media etc.

They can do it, i managed a free case with a camera, just for asking..

I used the words..

'if i buy this camera, are you going to give me a discount....'

the reply was of course a big fat no, but i then asked 'what can you give me'..

then i got a free case.

oh, btw, i find these places are all the same place and they stock the same items nearly, how about finding an independant computer shop or something.
• I found after trawling around that I saved so much money getting my lovely new laptop from Play.com...£200 off PC world price plus another £20 Quidco!
I have had brain surgery - sorry if I am a little confused sometimes ;)

I used to work for PC World (unfortunately!!!) and they have targets on things like selling CD's with CD drives and cartridges with printers. These targets are called attachments. One of these 'attachment' targets is laptop bags with laptops, which is why they gave Alias_Omega a free bag. So, p0eticjustice you should at least try for a free bag.

Oh and by the way, for those of you who dont know PC World/Dixons/Currys are all the same company (Dixons Stores Group).

Also, they will try to sell you product support for £x.99 a month (depending on the price of the laptop). They will say they will give you the first month or two for free and then suggest you cancel it if you dont want it. Basically all they do is discount the laptop by the monthly amount (e.g £9.99) and you still have to set up a direct debit and the money still comes out. If you want you can go for it and then cancel it as soon as you get home, therefore getting a tenner or so off!
• Hi Just discovered a site where you can get freebies and coupon code.

www.bargainbanter.co.uk = lots of offers. scroll down to

www.freestuffestore.com/new.html = click coupon codes and it takes you to

a google list of coupon codes and offers for different stores.

good hunting.

• Remember to check the websites for Dixons, Currys and PC World. Sometimes they have offers on one website but not on the others (even though they part of the same parent company), so you may be able to find yourself a bit of a cheaper deal that way.

Buying from the website usually incurs postage costs. I recently found a soundcard on the PC World website that was half price but was full price on the Currys & Dixons websites and also in the PC World shop. I asked the staff in PC World if they would match their own website, which they did, saving postage.

Also try the following code:

Currys website, 5% saving: YAW800

And finally, try this website for more codes:

Hope this helps!!

Another word of advice, make sure you go to the shop with a clear mind of the exact make and model laptop you want and before you go into Currys, Dixons or PC World, check their online price because you can use a feature called [EMAIL="'collect@store'"]'collect@store'[/EMAIL] where you reserve the item on the net, at the internet price and then collect it from the store.:D

I needed to by a new washing m/c - general google around, and I found Dixons to be about the cheapest for what I wanted. Then I set about looking for vouchers and codes. I found the following to be the best I could do:-

Ordered the machine via quidco - saved 4%
Used dixons code from their website - DISC08 - saved 5% (note there are different codes for differnet goods)
Found a code for free delivery - freedel07 - saved £19.99

All in all saved about £50 on a machine that was about the best price I could find. Was actually about £100 cheaper then Tesco (with above discounts) - hence I did not look at tesco points as an option.

In the past, bought a LCD TV and saved about 30% with codes available at that time. Really is worth googling around before you buy.
Regards,
Pete.
