in Cutting tax
Hi
Am sure maybe this has been done before - but I want to talk with HMRC re my tax code as I think it is too much. I have called about 10 times. After saying lots of info and making five minute calls they say demand is high and goodbye
Does anyone know the best button options to get hold of a real person or any other short cut. It really is such a time waster and getting nowhere.
Thanks.

It's just completely untrue to say they are unavailable, as molerat says, timing is everything. Although I knew better I did once try to call in the middle of the day and gave up after 20 minutes, but ringing early I have never had more that about 2 minutes wait, and usually it's answered within 30 seconds.0

Definitely phone first thing in the morning. Just before 8am on a Saturday is probably ideal. Avoid calling in the evening.0

I phoned at 3pm today (Saturday) and my call was answered immediately. I nearly choked on the three course meal I was sitting down to enjoy whilst waiting in the queue.0

I had a 1 hour wait the first time got cut off after a few mins of speaking with a agent, Called again right away another hour wait but got through got it sorted and got 114 back plus my tax that was wrong this year being added to my wages.
Its just a waiting gameSealed Pot Challenge 10 - #5710 -
In recent times I've spent ages on hold (45 mins was the longest) or they take you through all the options then tell you everyone is busy and end the call!
I've tried first thing, and at various other times of day, but never got through.
I gave up in the end and filled in an HMRC online form in order to tell them I thought my tax code was wrong.0
