HSBC fee

Looking at a £999 fee with HSBC plus a valuation fee on top for the cheapest mortgage rate. They seem to want both fees before the valuation which seems a bit risky e.g. valuation is less than offer or my buyer/seller pulls out. Does anyone have any HSBC specific advice about if the booking/application fee is refundable?

I'd imagine the booking fee is refundable but not the rest but you can ask them.
With YBS I had to pay application & survey fee. They asked if I wanted to pay the booking fee also but I said I'd do it after the valuation etc even though they said it would be refundable

You have a big mortgage then?

See section 8 of key facts illustration which covers fee and their refundability, or otherwise.
