Unauthorised Credit Search

Evening all,

I have just got access to my Credit Expert credit report. I was desperate to get a loan in April and ended up going to a couple of dodgy loan companies. Luckily I was wiser to step away from them all, including a company called Yes Loans Ltd.

Just looking at the people that have done credit searches and one was from 9th Aug 2007!!!! It was a company called Welcome Finance. I called them and spoke to an advisor asking why they had performed a credit search on me without permission. They said they were asked to by Yes Loans. I confirmed that I went to them in April, and I wasn't quibling that search but why was I searched now? The person advised me that the only reason that would happen is if I did a new application with them on 9th Aug! They gave me the reference number and advised me to take it up with Experian as they could investigate why a credit search was done without permission.

Is this the correct advise? I feel really upset about it, my credit score is so low as I have never had credit and now someone is making things worse for me. I only want a £20 credit card (which I know is too low to get), hell I'd even pay someone £50 to have one I just want credit!! I wanna get married in July 09 but have to get a loan, and if I cant start upping my credit score now I will never be able to get the loan to get married.

Sorry for babbling I just dont know who to go to.

Be careful you might have stumbled onto someone attempting ID fraud on you.
Go back to Welcome finance and tell them that they are not to proceed with any loan in your name. (Do this in writing and ask for written confirmation).

You are not going to like this next bit but you do not need credit to get married!
Why do you need a loan? You have 2 years to save for the expense!
If you can't afford to put money away now you certainly won't be able to afford repayments on a loan.

Yeah - don't do it!! I was going consolidate my 2 credit cards and get a loan for the same reason - then I found this site! :T
I would have had a £15K loan to be paid off over goodness knows how long - instead of that we're going for a less expensive wedding option, which we are both happy with, and can afford - and paying off both my cards - I'll be debt free in around 3 years! :rotfl:
Have a look on the other boards about budgets and meal planning - my attitude to money has changed in a few months, it makes life so much easier!
