When my dear late Dad turned 60, my sis and I clubbed together and bought him a ticket to see Phantom of the Opera in the West End. He knew nothing about it. We cancelled all his work for the day and both book the day off work for ourselves too.
We paid for his train ticket too between the two of us. Our respective other halves came with us, and it was a lovely night out.
We put the tickets in a small hankerchief box and put that in a huge box filled with newspaper. The look on his face when he realised what we'd done was worth so much.
Do you have any relatives you can club together with so you can do something for him he's always wanted to do?Comping, Clicking & Saving for Change0 -
Don't know where you stay but if you happen to be Scottish there is the Edinburgh Tattoo during August and the Royal Yacht Britannia docked there too if he would be interested in a tour of i0

for my parents 30th wedding anniversay we got them a rose called pearl anniversary - they do them for all sorts - names, dates, ages etc.
they loved it and its not as materialistic as other presents - they seem to have everything you could ever imagine or want!r.mac, you are so wise and wonderful, that post was lovely and so insightful!0 -
When my dad was 60 me and my brothers clubbed together and bought him a private registration plate for his car. Some of them are quite cheap to buy, especially if you have someone to share the cost with.0
