I agree that your food bill is high. This is an area where you could make huge savings. From you child benefit I guess that you have 2 children. It should be possible to cut your food bill to £200 a month, giving you an extra £200 per month towards your debt.
Also I would give the kids sandwiches for lunch. I make up lunchboxes for my 3 every day as I can't afford 3 school dinners every day at £2 each. See the old style forum for ideas. You can put up your shopping receipt there and they will suggest cheaper alternatives!
Can't think of anything else at the moment, good luck with this and don't worry, at least you are dealing with it now. Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

Hi yes our tax credits payments are monthly and we will receive Industrial Injuries benefit for life. Our council tax payments are spread over the remaining months as we got into arrears. We cant use public transport as both our jobs require the use of our own cars, My husband is a social work assistant and needs to be able to transport children and I am a domestic cleaner and need to transport my cleaning materials for work. School dinners is £15.00 per week for 2 children, although after the hols I think it will be sandwiches. Our phone costs are £30.00 fpr landline, broadband and tv plus £15.00 for a mobile. And finally our house insurance is buildings and contents. You are right tho I could probably spend less on my food budget (and we could all do with loosing a few pounds!! haha ) .

I am so glad you took the plunge to sort your circumstances out. I've been through the same thing recently and believe me you will feel better about it all soon. You are doing the right thing and I wish you all the best for the future.Eleventh Heaven No. 321
