Last minute questions.

In 24 hours the 'worst' will be over.
Never mind butterflies, i feel like theres a herd of stampeding Rhino's in my stomach!
My first question is, i've left it too late to transfer my wages to a new account (IF i can get one) and it will be paid into my basic halifax account at the end of the month. IF this accounts gets frozen will i just be able to go in to the branch and get my money there and then? or will they make me wait/pay by cheque?
Also, i have a catalogue in my name but with money owed to it by someone else - its only a small amount left to pay. Do i mention this to the OR?
Thanks.

  • Be as honest & open with the OR as you can, it'll probably be best you mention the catalogue stuff, if it's a basic bank account you opened it should be safe & hopefully won't be closed but i'd mention to the OR as well just to be on the safe side...if the account is closed (which it probably won't be) it'll just be a matter of the OR contacting your bank with a letter/fax to authorise release of your wages...usually pretty fast so not much waiting around

Good luck with everything tomorrow...i'm sure you'll be fine

    Hi BLTN,

Hope all goes well for you tomorrow, I'm more than sure it will. I remember that awful feeling the day before my BR, it was horrible, but you know what?? it was all for nothing! I know there's not anything I can say to stop you from worrying though if you're anything like I was, so I wont.

Let us know how you get on. X X X

As said, its really up to the Halifax how they react/treat your account, since the OR should have no interest in it. Most people have a brief chat with the OR immediately after your BR order is made, so you should voice your wish to have the account left open for wages with the OR then.

I would say include the catalogue as well. If you ordered on someone else's behalf it might be a pain to prove the debt isn't yours if you don't.

    BLTN,

Forgot to add that I had an account with the Halifax pre-BR, which I owed £1000 on an overdraft for, and they sent me a letter saying they would close the account, I can't remember the exact wording but it sounded like it's something that they do as standard.

Can you get your salary paid into a relatives/friends account or, as I did, get paid by cheque this month??

  • Its too late for payment elsewhere, work insist that any changes are done by the 12th of each month-although as long as i can get my hands on the cash from the Halifax IF they close/freeze the account then i can pay it into my daughters account. Just re-setting up all the DDs AGAIN.
I could maybe contact pay dept and ask for a cheque but i'm relutant to do so as i don't want work knowing about my little problem. Still, if needs must!
Thanks everyone-off for another strong coffee and another fag (and i wonder why my hearts racing and i'm all jittery)

BLTN I was too late to have my payment details changed for my payroll (person was off sick), I told them that I was having problems with by bank and that I couldn't have my salary paid into it and they gave me a cheque. Didn't tell them I was going BR just that had problems with Bank Account.

    Hope this helps.

    Good luck for tomorrow

  • That helps a lot OTM, thanks.
I'll leave it a bit nearer pay day before doing anything-but not too near.
With a huge amount of luck it won't be a probelm, but at the mo i'm worrying endlessly about everything.
