I can't catch up. Trying so hard :(

I don't get paid until next Friday and I've already had to borrow some money out of the savings account just to be able to keep in the black :(

I’ve had some unexpected and untypical outgoings this month

£70- 2(!) flat tyres
£55- Heel snapped on shoes I was going to be wearing the next day as a bridesmaid for a very close friend- had to get identical replacement as it was too late to get them repaired
£150- Hen weekend. Knew I was going well in advance and saved a bit of this but not all and although it was a great weekend I felt so worried about spending the money that it was a bit spoilt.
£50- Wedding day
£50- Wedding pressie

Some of this I have already paid for and some I have borrowed- from either my husband, who bought the shoes/tyres/paid for the whole wedding day expenditure and the part above is just half (!!!!!! I can’t believe dh spent so much, this is mostly his doing but we split stuff like this down the middle) or my sons savings. (In my name, and DH and I put money in not our son he's only 2 1/2, but most definitely earmarked for him. What a terrible mum I am, I feel just rotten about this.)

Next month is going to be really tight too as we have a holiday booked (paid for before my LBM) and so there will be the day to day cost of that (my share will be at least £200 for the week) plus I need to get sun tan lotion and other holiday essentials. Plus the stuff I’ve borrowed this month that needs paying back, my budget is already £131 over for next month and I haven’t even got paid for August yet.

Basically spent too much this month, on stuff I couldn’t get out of (committed to pre-lbm). But still makes me feel pretty despondent when I just can’t seem to catch up and get back to an even level where I might even (shock!) have money left to put towards an extra payment. And next month will be the same

And to top it all off I don't have enough blimmin money to buy lunch or buy stuff to make sarnies at home until Friday so I am hungry which makes me really grumpy.

  • Cheer up things will get better. It is frustrating if you have signed up for things pre light bulb and then you are committed to them for ages.

But try to enjoy the holiday, you are committed to go so it would be a waste of the money spent on it to not enjoy it. You can replace your sons savings when things are going better, so don't feel bad, you can only do your best!

With regard to sarnies can you afford a value loaf from Tesco and some cheapo margerine? Better than nothing!

Do you have any Boots points for your suncream? Or why not try Tesco or Asda's own...

Aldi loaf & salad - lettuce, toms & cucumber aren't too expensive - for butties. And you'll get a week's worth for the price of a shop sarnie

Thank you Floss and HHoD, I am nipping to Lidl on my way home to get a couple of loaves of bread/ bit of salad as suggested with the shrapnel I've found in my drawer at work! Have plenty of food in the cupboard/freezer for dinners until next friday, just don't think that gammon peas n mash is appropriate for eating at my desk :). I shopped at Lidl earlier in the month so freezer looks v healthy, can't believe the quality of food I can get for pennies. Just didn't have room for a months worth of bread and have been scraping down the back of the sofa for change for a week or so already so things down to the wire.

Will be listing lots of ebay stuff tonight too, I need to take positive steps to generate income instead of moaning!

    Hi Lalala,
Glad you've found enough for some lunch tomorrow!
Well done on bringing your debt down by so much so quickly. You're doing really well so give yourself some credit. Hope you have a fabulous holiday. Can you find any sun cream from last year and just apply it more often (it loses strenghth over time)?

o.k so you might have some essentials for the holiday. Other things can you do without- ie do you need new clothes or will your old ones do? All the things that really are essential how cheaply can you get them- see how little you can buy all the essentials for and then have a fab holiday and work at the debts when you get home.

Sounds like you're feeling a bit positive already but just wanted to echo what hairyhand (lol!) said: things will get better.

You will have a fab time on holiday and I am sure the hen night/wedding will/are memorable so...you can go on from here, cutting back and selling on EBAY etc and things really really really will get better.

Stick around too - this site will help you stay on the straight & narrow after that lbm too! :D
